Durvi
The Invincible
Inspired by Durga
The story
Durvi is inspired by Durga, the warrior goddess. The buffalo demon Mahishasura had a boon that no man or god could kill him, and he drove the gods out of heaven. So the gods poured their power together, and Durga rose from it, with a weapon from each of them in her many arms: Shiva’s trident, Vishnu’s discus and more. She rode a lion into battle and killed Mahishasura. Her victory is celebrated at Navaratri and Durga Puja. Durvi rides Simku, her lion.
